the quiet season

The quiet winter months haven’t been quite so quiet, this year.

I’m still working away on 7Red, the space opera caper novel, but between work, being sick for a few weeks, Potlatch (which was tremendous amounts of fun), a friend coming to visit for a couple of weeks, and application season being open for Clarion West, progress has been slower than I’d have liked. Part of the process is being patient with myself—I have a lot of stuff going on this year.

I did manage to get away for part of a day to Whidbey Island with Laura and the pups. The island is quiet this time of year, and we weren’t feeling all that energetic—just a trip to the dog park, lunch in Coupeville, shopping at Greenbank Farm, and then a ferry home.  There’s little enough quiet time scheduled for the next few months, and it was nice to get away.
