Kris Millering's Biography
The first time I wrote what I considered to be a "real" story, I was in the third grade. We were assigned to write a story about a spaceship.
That spaceship got swallowed up by a black hole, killing everyone aboard. I was very proud of that story. (I was an odd child.)
It's all been downhill from there.
I was born in California in 1974, wrote my first poem in 1981, and have more or less been compulsively writing ever since. I did manage to pay enough attention to graduate from the University of Iowa with a degree in linguistics; when I moved to Seattle in 1996, I managed to parlay my degree and a modicum of HTML knowledge into what, surprisingly, has turned out to be an actual career in high tech.
I've written articles for various online publications (all now defunct, alas), been featured (along with about a hundred other peoples' stories) on Warren Ellis's Weblog, and have, in general, been far too busy writing to attempt to send anything out for publication.
I'm working on changing that.
I also have a semi-serious photography habit, an office supply fetish, and despite my best intentions I've turned into a runner. I also make books and do art journaling.
Outside of that, I reside south of Seattle with my two partners, our four cats, and our dog. I blog at the hidden place and the other time (mostly personal) and the silence after the animals (largely professional) about writing, art, life, etc.
