In a city beneath stone, a forbidden faith is about to raise its head once more...
House Melrae is a family that keeps a deadly secret locked behind heavily carved doors. They worship a goddess outlawed centuries ago, alone except for a handful of families in an entire city of drow who worship the spider goddess Lloth. When one of their allied houses falls, House Melrae is promoted to the ruling council of the city--and Imryne, their third daughter, is sent to the council as the representative of her mother.
The only way Imryne's house will survive being on the council is to take control of it, and to do so she must use all of her house's resources and alliances to destroy the houses above her. She will use all of the cunning that her has inherited from her mother to combat enemies outside of her house, inside of it, and even inside her own mind.
She carries within her a madness that had nearly killed her several times, and now she suffers dreams, dreams which cannot be anything more than the workings of an overwrought mind but somehow keep coming true...
The Water and the Wild
Come away, O human child...
You never ask the fairies to come, but sometimes they do anyway. Fifteen-year-old Grainne O'Gallochobhair has always seen things that others can't, though she keeps quiet about it. She's got bigger concerns on her mind, after all: a possible marriage to her foster brother, the great hunger that is stalking all who live on the farms in the Irish countryside, keeping four little sisters out of trouble. Seeing the occasional troll or pixie is evidence that she isn't quite right in the head, she thinks, and she says nothing.
Then a pair of pixies wake her up in the middle of the night and tell her that she is fairykin, and the trolls she has been seeing more often lately are trying to bring Ireland back into their own land...and in the process kill all of the humans there. The pixies ask for her help to fight the trolls, and keep Ireland in the human world. Soon, Grainne will discover that she has a far more personal stake in the battle. The mother she barely remembers has been taken prisoner by the king of the trolls.
It's not easy to fight this battle and keep it a secret from her family. When trouble follows her home, she must decide whether to throw in her lot with the pixies, or stay in the human world, with all the consequences of being not quite human.
One family is lost, but another is gained...
Nascha is a Navajo, newly married and living with her family on the dry plains of the American west. A raid by the neighboring Arapaho changes all that, and Nascha is captured and carried away, most of her family killed. Her cousin Sakhyo and Sakhyo's son are also captured, and both Sakhyo and Nascha are taken as wives by those who killed their family.
Nascha escapes, swearing to come back for her cousin. But her escape and headlong flight to find help come to an end when she is found, nearly dead of thirst, by an elite band of Apache warriors--and told that she has been chosen to become one of them.
She must become spiritwalker, one of those who can walk in the world of spirits, or die trying. Because those who hold her cousin have a dark power, and to rescue Sakhyo, she must become their equal...

What he doesn't know is that this is only the beginning of an adventure that will take him and his friends into places they never expected to find themselves.
